The two 499Ps competing in round six of the FIA WEC World Championship at the Fuji International Speedway had a difficult qualifying session, as reflected by the sixth and seventh positions taken by numbers 51 and 50, respectively.
The session started with a dry track, asphalt at 25.9°C, an air temperature of 23.1°C and overcast skies. However, in the last part of the session, persistent drizzle thwarted James Calado and Nicklas Nielsen, the two drivers selected to qualify the Ferraris, in their final attempts to improve their lap times.
The British driver finished sixth in 1’28”991, while his Danish teammate completed the 15-minute time trial 72 thousandths behind.
Tomorrow the 6 Hours of Fuji will start at 11 a.m. local time.
