The new Ferrari Legacy Tour celebrates the GTO

Maranello, 25 September 2024 - The Ferrari Legacy Tour prepares to celebrate the Ferrari GTO, the Prancing Horse's first supercar. From 2 – 4 October, owners of this extraordinary car will come together from all over the world to share a unique journey starting at Pinzolo, northern Italy, and ending at the Fiorano track in Maranello.

The Tour will pass through the upper Val Rendena and the Adamello Brenta Natural Park’s most scenic places, continue through Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, and then down from Monte Bondone to Riva del Garda. The second day includes a stop on Monte Baldo and an exhibition of the cars at Mantua. On the final day, the GTO motorcade will arrive at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, then parade down the Maranello factory’s central avenue and onto the Fiorano track.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1984, the GTO is also known by its unofficial designation 288 (2.8 litre, 8 cylinder). The beautiful lines designed by Pininfarina, the power of its engine and the extensive use of track-derived composite materials made the GTO the closest thing to a racing car for the road that Ferrari had yet produced, ensuring its immediate success and guaranteeing it a legendary status that continues to this day.

The GTO began Ferrari’s supercar series, a term that defines true milestones of automotive history. These cars are produced in limited numbers and represent Enzo Ferrari's ambition to make the best possible car for that point in history. Each new model was even more technologically advanced, an expression of state-of-the-art research and development, creating the pinnacle of automotive excellence. The 288 was followed by an incredible series of models – F40, F50, Enzo Ferrari and LaFerrari – that chronicle 40 years of passion and innovation.
