In this penultimate round of the World Endurance Championship, the official Ferrari – AF Corse team fielded the 499Ps in the top class. Car number 50, driven by Fuoco, Molina, and Nielsen, finished ninth, while car number 51, with Pier Guidi, Calado, and Giovinazzi, was forced to retire early. Also in the spotlight was AF Corse’s number 83 Hypercar, shared by Ferrari official drivers Yifei Ye and Robert Shwartzman, alongside Robert Kubica, which crossed the finish line in twelfth place.
The Japanese round, contested on 15 September, also made history with a class victory for the Ferrari 296 LMGT3, car number 54, driven by Rigon, Flohr, and Castellacci. The Vista AF Corse team's car secured the first world championship win for the 296 LMGT3, which debuted in the FIA WEC this year.
