Imola awaits the second round of the 2025 FIA WEC

    Maranello 03 April 2025

With today’s press conference held at the TAG facility at Bologna Airport unveiling the 6 Hours of Imola, the countdown begins for the second round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship. For the second time in history, following last year’s edition, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola will host the world championship for a round – scheduled over the weekend of 20 April – following the remarkable season-opener for the Prancing Horse in Qatar on 28 February, where the 499Ps numbered 50, 83 and 51 secured a historic one-two-three finish.

Speaking in Bologna was Nicklas Nielsen who, together with Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina, climbed the top step of the podium at the Lusail Circuit. “Racing in Italy is always something special for a driver at the wheel of a Ferrari,” said the 28-year-old Danish driver. “The atmosphere at Imola in 2024 was incredible, and I’m sure the Tifosi won’t hold back with their support again this year.”

For the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, the Italian round represents something special on an emotional level as well as a key sporting event. “We come to this 6 Hours feeling optimistic, especially after winning the first round of the year in Qatar – a race that also saw Ferrari achieve a historic one-two-three finish. At Imola, as always, we’ll give our all to be among the front-runners and to put a smile on the faces of the Prancing Horse Tifosi,” added Nielsen. “We know the race will be demanding, but the team is working tirelessly to be fully prepared and to perform at our best in every round of the World Endurance Championship, so we head into the Italian round with confidence.”

Three 499P cars will line up on the starting grid for the Italian round: the number 50 and 51 entries from Ferrari – AF Corse’s official line-up, fielded respectively by Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen and Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi, and the number 83 entry from AF Corse, driven by Ye-Kubica-Hanson.

The programme for the 6 Hours of Imola gets underway on Friday, 18 April with the first two free practice sessions from 11.15 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. and from 4 to 5.30 p.m. On Saturday, 19 April, a third practice session will be held from 10.40 to 11.40 a.m., followed by qualifying and the Hyperpole for the Hypercar class – scheduled for 3.10 and 3.30 p.m respectively. The race itself will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, 20 April and finish at 7 p.m. (local time).
