Relive the 6 Hours of Spa with ‘Full Access: The Red Line’

Maranello 27 May 2024

An extraordinary number of no fewer than 88,180 fans were in attendance for the third round of the FIA WEC 2024 held at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track. The 6 Hours saw the 499Ps of the Ferrari - AF Corse team take a third and a fourth place at the finish line after a great performance in a race marked by a long red flag stoppage. The thrills of the Belgian weekend can be relived in the latest episode of the web series ‘Full Access: The Red Line’ available on the Ferrari YouTube channel.

Throughout the weekend, the cameras followed the drivers and the official Prancing Horse team to reveal the behind-the-scenes action from the championship round. Beginning with the track walk on the legendary 7.004-kilometre circuit nestled in the Ardennes forest, through the ignition of the engines on the first day of free practice, to the Hyperpole qualifying – when the adrenaline and anticipation for lap times were at their highest – and continuing throughout the race, ‘The Red Line’ provides fans with a view of unseen situations and dialogues.

Starting from 19th and 10th positions, Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen (the trio initially claimed the Hyperpole but were later relegated down the starting grid) and Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi, in the number 50 and 51 499Ps respectively, made a comeback, clawing their way back into the race lead.

At that moment, a red flag brought the race to a halt, leaving 1 hour, 47 minutes and 30 seconds on the clock before the scheduled 7 p.m. chequered flag. When the restart was announced at 6.55 p.m., it was established that the 1 hour, 44 minutes of stoppage time would be recovered.

The Ferrari 499Ps number 50 and 51, after the necessary pit stops, finished the race in third and fourth position, while the number 83 crew of the AF Corse team – made up of Yifei Ye, Robert Shwartzman and Robert Kubica – took eighth place overall, and third place in the category reserved for independent teams.
