The countdown to the opening act of the season, to be held at the Lusail track in Qatar on 2 March, is underway with the publication of the entry list of cars and teams set to participate in the FIA WEC 2024. For the second year running, Ferrari – AF Corse will be at the start in the top class with the two 499Ps, numbers 50 and 51. The first drivers to be announced will be Antonio Fuoco and Alessandro Pier Guidi respectively, already protagonists in the 2023 season that ended in early November in Bahrain. The other official Maranello manufacturer drivers who will make up the crews will be communicated shortly.
Adding to the excitement, a third Prancing Horse car will also be part of the competition. The FIA WEC Selection Committee has approved the entry of the Ferrari 499P that will line up for the AF Corse team on the starting grid in the Hypercar class. Aboard the number 83 car will be Robert Kubica, the class-of-1984 Polish racer who will represent the Italian team in 2024.
The 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar is scheduled to feature eight rounds, one more than the previous season. Following the debut in Qatar, which for the first time will host the world championship event by organising the Prologue (24-25 February) and the opening round, there will be dates in Imola (Italy; 21 April), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium; 11 May), Le Mans (France; 15-16 June), Sao Paulo (Brazil; 14 July), COTA (USA; 1 September), Fuji (Japan; 15 September), and Bahrain (2 November).
