Ferrari honoured with the “Barbetti Memorial” for Le Mans triumph

Maranello 19 July 2023

Victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans has earned Ferrari the “Angelo and Pietro Barbetti Memorial” presented at Gubbio (Perugia, Italy) as part of an event in the run-up to the 58th “Fagioli” Trophy, round eight of the CIVM, the Italian Hill Climb Championship. On stage to receive the award was Antonello Coletta, Ferrari Global Head of Endurance and Corse Clienti.

Underlying the award for the Prancing Horse was the historic triumph in the world’s most renowned endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which took place on 10-11 June. The Maranello manufacturer, which re-entered the top class of the FIA WEC in 2023, half a century after its previous appearance, crossed the line of the Circuit de La Sarthe in first place with the number 51 499P, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi. The result saw them clinch the overall victory in the world’s oldest endurance race 58 years after the last previous one, in 1965 with the Ferrari 250 LM.

In the same race, the fourth round of the world championship season, the Ferrari - AF Corse team-run “sister” Hypercar with the number 50 on the livery, shared by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, had secured the Hyperpole as well as the fastest lap of the race.
