Oliver Bearman is set to make his debut on the Formula 1 World Championship stage, as the Ferrari Driver Academy student will climb into the cockpit of the Haas F1 Team’s Ferrari-powered VF-23 for the first free practice session at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Englishman will also have a second opportunity to get behind the wheel at the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi.
Impressive season. There are now only the two Abu Dhabi races remaining to round off the Formula 2 championship and the Chelmsford-born 19 year old has enjoyed an impressive rookie season in the category. Four victories so far put him second on the list of drivers with the most wins this season, the only driver to have won three Feature Races and he is currently sixth in the championship.
Joining the team in Qatar. To get to know the Haas F1 Team better, Oliver will be with them as from this weekend at the Lusail track, taking part in the technical briefings and getting a first-hand look at how a Formula 1 team operates. “I can’t wait for this adventure to begin and I’m very happy to be driving for Haas F1 Team in Mexico City and Abu Dhabi,” said Bearman. “Getting to Formula 1 has been my dream ever since I first raced in karts and making my debut in the top category is really something special. I thank the team for this opportunity and Ferrari for making it possible. I will prepare as much as possible and will try and make a real contribution to the team on both occasions.”
