Evo like evolution. This is the spirit of the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, unveiled during the World Finals at Mugello in October 2019 and star of the 2020 racing season. The new mechanical and aerodynamic upgrade kit, also available for existing vehicles, promises even better overall performance and even greater driving pleasure.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The new&nbsp;Evo kit delivers improved performanceIn particular, the increased downforce and the Pirelli tyre design guarantee  outstanding performance. In addition, the forward shift of the aerodynamic balance between the axles improves cornering, with quicker entry and reduced understeer on exit. For the driver, this translates into an unrivalled driving experience, which has been perfected after an intensive initial development phase with the simulator.

Aerodynamics

The proven synergy between the technical department and the Ferrari Style Centre has resulted in a thorough
overhaul of the car, especially at the front, with a 30% increase in efficiency
compared to the 488 Challenge.&nbsp;

Perfect mix between performance and design

The introduction of a third “U” shaped manifold in a central position
contributes to the unique identity and character of the 488 Challenge Evo. The
perfect blend of performance and design can be seen in the splitter inserted in
the lower part of the bumper which is designed to better manage and control the
air flowing from the side vents with two fins at the end.

In addition, there is a new air discharge below the rear spoiler to increase the aerodynamic load, embedded in the engine air intake grille.&nbsp; Finally, the new rear air strip produces an increase in the downforce ratio.

The change in the length of the front end, with an increased overhang of the bumper’s side air intakes, made it possible to achieve the aim of increasing the overall aerodynamic load and optimising the balance. In addition,&nbsp; Finally, a second side flick has been inserted on the re-proportioned sides, to improve the quality of the air flow. The result is that the car's total vertical aerodynamic load is increased by 50% compared to the 488 Challenge.<o:p></o:p>The Evo kit incorporates additional aerodynamic solutions on the side and rear. Beneath the rear-view mirror there is a distinctive flap designed to divert the flow towards the intercooler. At the rear, there is a clear reference to the FXX-K.

Dynamics

The driver can select different configurations before each race depending on track layout and weather conditions, from High Downforce to Low Downforce. Thanks to this evolution, the front load is over 20% greater than in the 488 Challenge.

Greater driving pleasure

After more than seven months of development, in the laboratory and at various tracks, the new tyres available in sizes 275/675-19 (front) and 315/705-19 (rear) made their debut on the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. In addition to the overall improvement in performance, the tyres developed in partnership with Pirelli also deliver a lower variation in lap times during a long run session.

Tyre development

The front brake disc has also been redesigned, and together with the increased size of the rear discs, this contributes to a significant reduction in wear and tear. While the introduction of a new rear camera, taken from the 488 GTE, significantly improves rear visibility.

The racing spirit is evident in the interior starting with the steering wheel based on the experience gained with the FXX-K Evo and the 488 GTE winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The most obvious improvement is in the ergonomics, the gear lever integration allows drivers to keep their hands in the
optimum position with considerable advantages in terms of visibility and system
control.

The way of managing the
ABS through the manettino is also new. The driver can choose from four modes, two
dry and two wet, to influence performance and stability.<o:p></o:p>
