Nielsen found the Challenge an excellent training ground, as we can see by his ten victories and permanent presence on the podium. He walked away with the European series and the world title in the Finali Mondial at Monza.The transition from the 488 Challenge to the 488 GTE was natural and, in 2019, he debuted in the European Le Mans Series with Luzich Racing. He secured the title in the 488 GTE alongside Fabien Lavergne and Alessandro Pier Guidi, with four wins in six races. He was also named ‘Rookie of the year’. He then entered the FIA World Endurance Championship with the 488 GTE of AF Corse, in the LMGTE Am class, together with François Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard. In December of the same year, he became official Competizioni GT driver. In his first year in the FIA World Endurance Championship, driving the 488 GTE of AF Corse in the LMGTE AM class, the Dane won the championship triumphing in the FIA Endurance Trophy together with François Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard. In 2020, he competed in the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup alongside Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado.
In 2021, Nicklas Nielsen enjoyed yet another successful season, retaining the FIA World Endurance Championship with Perrodo and Rovera in the FIA Endurance Trophy and winning his first 24 Hours of Le Mans for AF Corse. In the GT World Challenge, he was crowned Endurance Cup champion with Pier Guidi and Ledogar, winning the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps for Iron Lynx. In 2022, Nielsen will be back in the SRO series with James Calado and Miguel Molina driving Iron Lynx’s 488 GT3 Evo 2020, while in the FIA WEC he will be behind the wheel of AF Corse’s LMP2-class prototype with Rovera and Perrodo.
Since racing with Ferrari, Nicklas Nielsen has added a laurel to his trophy cabinet every year. In 2022, it was the World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 Pro-Am class, with François Perrodo and Alessio Rovera. His experience with the AF Corse prototype was useful for the development of the 499P.
Five years after triumphing in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, in 2023 the Dane had a stunning year in the FIA WEC, registering a win in the new 296 GT3 alongside Alessio Rovera and Robert Shwartzman, in Barcelona in the GT World Challenge Europe - Endurance Cup.
