    Between 11 and 18 he participated in Italian and International kart championships. In 1992 he debuted in Formula 3, where he ended the season on place eight, while winning the Italian championship in 1994 with ten victories during the season, after coming in second the year before. After a short while in the DTM/ITC Championship with an Alfa Romeo 155, Giancarlo came to Formula 1 at age of 23, starting for Minardi in the 1996 season. In the following years he raced for Jordan (1997), Benetton (from 1998 to 2001), and again for Jordan (2002 and 2003, where he gained in Brazil the first win of his career).

    He then raced for Sauber (2004), Renault (2005-2007) and Force India (2008 and a part of 2009); in the year 2009, after Felipe Massa’s accident in Hungary, Fisichella was called up by Scuderia Ferrari, for whom he drove the F60 no.3 to the end of the season. In 2010, the Italian competed in the Le Mans Series, at the wheel of an AF Corse entered F430. Since 2011 he has competed in GT racing at the wheel of the 458 Italia, with the AF Corse team - first in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, then in the WEC. In 2012 he won the Le Mans 24 Hours with Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander. In 2014 he repeated his Le Mans win together with Bruni and Vilander but spent his year competing in the United States where he took part in the IMSA USCC, ending the season with two wins. In 2015 Giancarlo was fourth in the IMSA USCC still with the same team. He was also third at the Le Mans 24 Hours alongside Bruni and Vilander and won the 6 Hours of Rome in Gold Cup class.

    In 2016 he competed in the IMSA SSC championship on the 488 GTE of team Risi Competizione paired with the Finnish. On the same car Giancarlo was second at the Le Mans 24 Hours race, but he also took part to alongside with the participation to some races of the Blancpain Endurance Cup. In 2017 Fisichella repeated the same program, taking five podiums in the IMSA and finishing second at the Spa 24 Hours. In 2018 he took part in the FIA WEC Super Season driving the Spirit of Race Ferrari in GTE-Am class with Francesco Castellacci and Thomas Flohr scoring the second place in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He was also involved in the title battle until the very last race of the Italian GT on the Scuderia Baldini’s Ferrari 488 GT3. In 2019 Fisichella will continue to compete in the FIA WEC with Spirit of Race and in the Italian GT Endurance series with Scuderia Baldini. In 2020, in addition to driving in the FIA WEC for AF Corse, Fisichella raced in the GT World Challenge Europe with Sky Tempesta Racing, winning the Magny Cours round and finishing on the podium in the 24 Hours of Spa.

    In 2021, Fisichella continued with AF Corse in the endurance world championship, again alongside Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci. In 2022, the Rome-based driver will join the Iron Lynx team in the FIA WEC with Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni.

    After the last few seasons with AF Corse, Giancarlo Fisichella competed in the World Endurance Championship for Iron Lynx. The experienced Italian driver achieved excellent placings, almost climbing the podium several times. Fisichella also contested an Italian GT Championship race with Rubens Barrichello, winning at Vallelunga.

    In 2023 the driver from Rome celebrated the title in the Italian GT Endurance Championship together with Tommaso Mosca, at Monza, with one round still to go before the end of the season. The pairing were the star performers of the year, sharing Scuderia Baldini’s 488 GT3 Evo 2020 and achieving two wins in the opening rounds in Pergusa and Mugello, third place at Monza and a runner-up spot in the final showdown held in Vallelunga.
