The Ferrari 499Ps at Sebring after four hours

Sebring 17 March 2023

The first round of the FIA World Endurance Championship has past the middle of the race with the Ferrari 499Ps occupying fourth and sixth positions at the 1000 Miglia di Sebring with the No. 50 and 51 Hypercars.

After Antonio Fuoco's double stint, the 499P that started from the first spot on the grid was entrusted to Miguel Molina, who over the 57 laps he spent inside the cockpit defended his position in the top-4 of the premier class, while the air temperature exceeded 28°C, forcing the drivers to carefully manage their tyres. The passing of the baton in favor of Nicklas Nielsen took place after 110 laps when the number 50 Ferrari returned for the sixth stop, refueling and changing tires which started the Dane's race. The team, which served a 5-second penalty for an infraction during a pit stop, is one lap behind the class-leading No. 8 Toyota after halfway through the race.

Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado were took their turn behind the wheel in the initial phase of the race, with the Italian driver handing off the wheel to his British teammate after 65 laps who continued with a double stint bringing the number 51 car to fourth position. At that point, with four hours to go before the checkered flag, the car made its fifth pit stop, with Antonio Giovinazzi taking over from Calado, rejoining the track in sixth position.
